SOCIAL WORKER

The Social Worker, Rosemary Odling, is based at the Bramley Hill Centre.

The Social Worker works with the adult members of The Garwood Foundation and their families.

Referrals can either be self - referrals or via the Scope help line, local Social Services or other agencies.

The role of the Social Worker is varied and diverse, offering a range of services, including: -

bullet Emotional support to clients and their families
bullet Assisting with benefit claims
bullet Form filling
bullet Giving information about legislation
bullet Linking various agencies together in the interest of the client
bullet Social activities
bullet Assisting with housing difficulties
bullet Assisting with arranging holidays
bullet Advocacy
bullet Assisting with letter writing
bullet Etc. etc.

Computer Skills

The Social Worker will attend the reviews of the members of the Bramley Hill Centre and residents of the Jean Garwood House, if possible, and if it is at the request of the client.

The Social Worker offers independent living skills support to some people with cerebral palsy who are living independently in the community. The support varies and could include liasing with other agencies or offering advice and support on the financial side of independence.

A carers group runs bi-monthly with a variety of invited speakers, who give information about themes associated with Cerebral Palsy and disability issues e.g., welfare benefits, carer’s issues.

The Social Worker links in with the residents and staff at Jean Garwood House, offering support and advice where needed.

The Social Worker chairs the residents meeting at Jean Garwood House. This is another way of keeping in touch with them, and knowing what the residents needs are within the home.
