Classes
The pupils at Rutherford range in age from 2 –19 years of age. There are currently 5 class groups which will be grouped according to key stages.
Ladybird - EYFS/KS1
Butterfly - Key Stage 1/2
Lollipop - Key Stage 2
Sunshine - Key Stages 2/3
Rainbow - Key Stages 3, 4 & 6th form
Each class has a core staff team of 1 Teacher (highly experienced and qualified in teaching learner’s with PMLD and associated complex medical needs) and 4-5 Specialist Classroom Assistants.
Due to the level of complex medical needs the school have a specialist Paediatric nursing team to include a full time Senior Paediatric Nurse, two Paediatric Nurses and a Health Care Assistant. In addition we have our own team of Therapists to include Senior Physiotherapist, Clinical Specialist in Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapists and Music Therapists.
