Nursing
We have an established Paediatric Nursing Team who maintain the highest standard of nursing care for the pupils who attend - the health, safety and well-being of our pupils is of paramount importance.
In order to meet the medical needs of each pupil within the context of the school routine, we work in partnership with parents or essential care givers, the school's intradisciplinary team and other external professionals as necessary.
Working as part of the school's intradisciplinary team, we are flexible and supportive of each other so that the pupils’ needs are met.
In order to prevent unnecessary disruption to pupils’ education, the school's Nursing Team works in collaboration with the PCT and NHS Trust to provide Medical Clinics six monthly for under fives and annually for over fives, and at other times depending on medical need and parental request. The Community Consultant Paediatrician, Dr Joy Okpala, conducts monthly clinics.
The Dietician from Mayday Hospital, Sarah Jordan, runs a joint monthly clinic with the school’s Speech & Language Therapist, Finn Emmerson, and the Senior School Nurses, Rachael Hickman and Jane Westcott-White, to provide dietary and nutritional guidance and support. Pupils are seen and assessed at school formally, once a year minimum or more often depending on need and/or parental concern.
The Dental Service visits six monthly, with a Dental Nurse and Hygienist, for examination of the teeth and written advice to parents for follow-up treatment. The Hygienist provides any treatment as a follow-up at school.
These clinics are provided to assist in the welfare, development and well-being of the pupils. Such arrangements prevent our pupils having to spend unnecessary time attending external appointments during school hours.

We are available to provide medical/nursing advice and guidance to all parents: Monday to Friday - 9.00 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.
