Rutherford School Appeal

Thank you to everyone who supported our appeal for the new school annexe. As you can see by the photograph the annexe is completed and is now in use by the children. £1.3m was a huge amount to fundraise but the effort has been well worth while. Feedback from staff and parents is very positive. The bright and modern new building provides improved access and resources and will make a positive difference to the quality of life and education of each child particularly increasing their independence, physical mobility, communication skills, cognitive creative skills and IT skills.

Now that the new annexe is complete it is time to refurbish the original building to bring it up to the same high standard as the new annexe. This will include making a school hall, something that has always been needed, a new sensory room downstairs, a new kitchen and all new bathrooms.

The main consideration is to use the ground floor for the children and use the first floor for offices and kitchen. Plans have been prepared and costings are around £350k and this is our current fundraising objective.

London Marathon 2008

Our congratulations to the following runners who completed the London Marathon for the Garwood Foundation –

All our runners completed in excellent times and raised over £6,000 for the Foundation. A big 'thank you' to you all.
