The Charity Shop is located at 127 South End, South Croydon and is open from 9.30am to
4.00pm on weekdays, except for Friday when it closes at 3.30pm. The Shop manager
is Jo Morton and she is supported by volunteers.
The Charity Shop sells everything from 9-foot Wind Surfing boards to 100-year-old
chimney pots, courtesy of the local pub.
We have a positive, upbeat mood in the shop. It is important that we have a happy
atmosphere for the customers.

Some of the volunteers are customers who love coming into the shop. The volunteers
work anything from a whole day, half a day or just what hours they can fit in.
We are in a lucky situation where we do not have to appeal for donations of goods -
they keep on coming in! All the staff work flat out to get the goods out as quickly
as possible.
The shop has a great book section, turning over very rapidly. The bric-a-brac section
is the same - we just do not know what we are going to find in a black bag! Any goods
that we think are of value are checked out by an expert, so we get the best possible price.
We close at 3.30 on a Friday to enable us to clear up the shop and prepare for Monday,
as it is our busiest day for donations. We have great support from Ian and Jackie who
run the local Off-License. They take in any donations left outside the shop when it is
closed. This prevents the stock from being stolen or damaged.

A special thank you to Vim, Fred, Claire, Sue, Amanda and Joan
for being a brilliant team of volunteers and helping to make the shop a continuing success.
