JEAN GARWOOD HOUSE NEWS

PAST

The last 12 months have been a time of celebration at Jean Garwood House. We celebrated our oldest resident's
70th birthday and in February we had a 50th birthday celebration for another resident. There was also the
annual Christmas dinner for the residents and staff at Coombe Lodge.

We also had a good announced inspection in July 2002, followed by an equally good unannounced inspection at
the beginning of April this year and the announced inspection in May. Most of the requirements were due to
the introduction of the minimum care standards.

PRESENT

The JGH bowling league is still going strong. There are six or seven regular members with some stalwarts
from the staff teams at JGH and Bramley Hill. Everyone has a good laugh and thoroughly enjoys themselves.

Some residents are also cycling on a Thursday morning at Croydon Arena using specially adapted bikes. There are
also regular visits to the Fairfield to see a wide range of musical events and shows.

FUTURE

We have had a conservatory built on the side of the house, which is being well used by the residents. It gives
them some additional communal space. We have had 3 en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen and lounge built upstairs, all accessible by lift.
